SFDugout Minor League Notebook for 6/17

After just being called up from Norwich, Jack Traschner gets his first win.. Norwich and Hagerstown face another day of rain canceling their games...San Jose snaps a two-game losing streak

Fresno Grizzlies (AAA)

Fresno 7 Sacramento 3

Jack Traschner (1-0, 3.00 ERA) was just called up from AA Norwich and pitched his first game today. He pitched six innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking three. He got his very first win as a Fresno Grizzlie and stopped their five game losing streak.

Todd Linden started in the outfield his first game back from San Francisco after Ray Durham returned to the Giants. Linden was 2-4, both of which were two-baggers. He is currently hitting 0.291.

Tony Torcato, who was designated hitter for the game, hit his second home run of the season – a two-run homer in the top of the eighth.

Kevin Walker (5.33 ERA) recorded his first save of the season after giving up one run on two hits in three innings of work.

Norwich Navigators (AA)

Due to rain, the game between the Navigators and Fisher Cats has been postponed.

San Jose (A)

San Jose 3 Lancaster 2

Brion Treadway started against the Lancaster Jethawks allowing only two runs on seven hits in 6 innings of work. He is now 5-4 with a 4.06 ERA.

Adam LaBarbera has extended his hitting streak to nine games after a 1-4 night. He has hit .400 (14-35) in those nine games.

Dan Trumble has been named to the California League All-Star team. He is second in the league in home runs. He currently holds a batting average of .289.

Fred Lewis continues to up his average with a 1-2 night. He was able to get on base by drawing two walks as well, later scoring a run for the San Jose Giants.

Since arriving to the San Jose Giants, Nate Schierholtz just couldn't seem to get a hit. He finally did in Thursday's game. Schierholtz hit a double to give himself a batting average of 0.111.

Hagerstown (A)

The game was cancelled after one inning, which the Suns were leading 3-0, due to rain. It is uncertain if the game will be made up on a later date.
