SFDugout Minor League Notebook for 6/21

An in-depth look into the San Francisco Giants minor league affiliates - Fresno Grizzlies (AAA), Norwich Navigators (AA), San Jose Giants (A), and the Hagerstown Suns (A)- the games played on June 21th, and who's haot and who's not.

Fresno Grizzlies (AAA)

Portland 6 Fresno 5

Despite outhitting Portland, Fresno couldn't take the lead and were swept on Monday, 6-5.

Adam Pettyjohn adds another loss to his record after pitching five innings and giving up five runs on seven hits. He records a 6.38 ERA.

Brian Dallimore raises his average to .320 after going 3-4 in the game, with one double and one home run, his second homer of the season.

David Doster was hitting well too going 3-4 with one double. He uped his batting average to .286

The bullpen did a good job keeping it close. Chad Zerbe (3.58 ERA) and Dave Veres (6.20 ERA) each pitched one inning, giving up no runs.

Norwich Navigators (AA)

The Navigators were out hit by the Binghamton Mets on Monday night, 9-3. Binghamton scored four runs in the seventh innings to win the game.

Mitch Walk came into the game in the top of the seventh and allowed two runs on two hits with a 3.67 ERA. He was relieved only after recording one out.

Luke Anderson was the only pitcher in the bullpen to not give up any runs to the Binghamton Mets. He pitched in the ninth, giving up no hits and striking out one, marking a 3.29 ERA.

The top of the lineup did well, Derin McMains, Bryan Carter, and Daniel Ortmeier, each driving in a run.

Right-handed pitcher Matt Cain has been named to the Major League Baseball ‘Futures game" on July 11 in Houston. With the San Jose Giants, Cain was 7-1 with a 1.86 ERA.

San Jose (A)

San Jose 9 Lancaster 1

Brian Burres recorded his first win after pitching six scoreless innings and striking out seven. He marks a 3.29 ERA with the team.

Fred Lewis (.313 )was 2-3 with his third home run of the year, a solo shot in the sixth. It wasn't your average home run, as the ball sailed over the right fielder's head. Once the ball was already thrown in, Lewis had circled the bases for an inside-the-park home run.

Anthony LaBarbera extends his hitting streak to 13 games, with a 1-3 hit game. He's hitting .274.

Hagerstown (A)

No game is schedule for this day.

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes

Spokane 3, Salem-Keizer 2

Clay Timper continues to maintain a .412 average with a 1-3 game. He hit a solo home run down the right field line.

Reliever Michael Kunes was given the loss after pitching two innings and giving up three runs on three hits. He now has a 5.40 ERA.

Pitchers, John Odom, Matt Raguse, and Trevor Wohglemuth each pitched wonderfully, shutting out Spokane for seven innings, and keeping their 0.00 ERA.
