Giants' AFL Prospects: week ending 11/13

How the Giants prospects fared this week in the AFL.

The Rafters are now 16-15, after going a nice 4-2 again this week, duplicating last week's feat. They are 3.5 games behind the division leading Phoenix Desert Dogs. Giants prospects helped out in a big way this week, they all are apparently getting settled down and all did well.

Mike Cervenak - He had another nice week but only played in 2 games. He hit .444/.444/.556/1.000 in 9 AB, with 1 double, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBIs and 2 strikeouts.

Fred Lewis - Broke through for a nice performance this week, much more of what's expected of a lead-off hitter like him. He hit .308/.357/.462/.819 in 13 AB, with 2 doubles, 4 runs scored, but still 3 strikeouts.

Lance Niekro - Returned from whatever it was that kept him out, but it seemed to have recharged him. He hit .500/.529/.625/1.154 in 16 AB, with 2 doubles, 5 runs scored (2nd best for the week on the team), and 6 RBI (tied for 2nd best on the team).

David Aardsma - Relieved 3 games, won 1 game, saved 1 game, throwing 2.2 IP, giving up 3 hits and 4 walks, with 3 strikeouts, but only 1 run/ER, 3.38 ERA, 2.88 WHIP

Chris Begg - Relieved 2 games, throwing 3.2 IP, giving up 6 hits and 0 walks, with 2 strikeouts, 2 runs, 1 ER, 2.45 ERA, 1.88 WHIP

Scott Munter - Relieved 3 games, won 1 game, throwing 5.0 IP, giving up 4 hits and 1 walk, with 3 strikeouts, 1 run/ER, 1.80 ERA, 1.05 WHIP

Martin Lee writes 'A Biased Giant's Fanatic's View' for when the mood and muse strikes him. He wants to teach and share his love of baseball and, in particular, his love for theSan Francisco Giants. He will believe to his dying days that Bobby Bonds was robbed of being the first 40-40 player and should be in Cooperstown.
