You think you had a packed weekend? Fresno played 3 games and won them all! San Jose rained 14 runs on the Lake Elsinore Storm...and that was just Sunday's game! And Norwich found themselves trying to fight off a 9th inning rally one day, and then trying to start one themselves the next! Matt Cain! David Aardsma! Erick Threets! Eddy-Martinez-Esteve! And Jake Wald! Who??? Just another minor league weekend.

Game Recap:
It took a while, but the Grizzlies eventually got there. Mickey Lopez knocked in Justin Knoedler and Donaldo Mendez on an 11th inning single, and the Grizzlies took a hard fought victory 11-9. The victory came after a hard fought, back and forth game. Patrick Misch had the start for Fresno, and gave up 5 runs in 4 innings, though only 2 were earned thanks to a fourth inning error by Mendez that extended the game. Offensively, Fresno had 17 hits, though 5 went for extra bases. Adam Shabala had a 2nd inning solo home run, and Brian Dallimore, Todd Linden, Doug Clark and Justin Knoedler each had doubles. Doug Clark led the team with 3 RBI, while Dallimore went 3 for 6 and scored 4 runs.

Game Recap:
David Aardsma won his 2nd game of the season, and has 2 of Norwich’s 3 victories, as the Navigators defeated the Phillies 4-2. Aardsma went 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits and no walks with 5 strikeouts. Erick Threets pitched in 2 hitless innings with just 1 walk on his recovery from injury. The ‘Gators scored solo runs in each of the 4th through 7th innings, with the biggest hit coming off of the bat of Julian Benavidez, who hit a 6th inning home run.

Game Recap:
Ryan Sadowski had a short day, losing to the Storm 4-2. Sadowski gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in 4.0 innings. The Giants attempted a 9th inning comeback, but fell short. Kevin Frandsen opened the inning with a single, and then stole second after a fly out. Travis Ishikawa walked, and then Eddy Martinez-Esteve doubled to score Frandsen. With Ishikawa on third, Eliezer Alfonzo stuck out and Schierholtz got on base thanks to a fielding error, which scored Ishikawa. But that was all the Giants would get as John Bowker struck out to end the game.

Game Recap:
Augusta held off a late push by the Sand Gnats, and held on to win 6-5. Leading 6-4, Matt Minor gave up a walk to lead off the 9th, and then gave up a single. Gnats hitter Reginald Fitzpatrick grounded into a double play to score the run, and then Minor gave up another single, but was able to get Rogearvin Bernadina to end the game. The game sealed a win for Brian Stirm, who pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief. Darren Sack gave up 4 runs in 4 innings, but they were all unearned following a Lisandro Disla error. Carlos Sosa went 3 for 4 on offense, and had 2 doubles with 3 RBI.

Game Recaps:
After missing Friday night’s game due to rain, the Grizzlies stayed hot, and swept a doubleheader against Tacoma. Matt Cain started the first game, and went the full 7 innings. He gave up only 4 hits, each solo home runs in the final two innings. He walked 5 and struck out 6. Jamie Athas led the daytime offense, going 2 for 3 with a 3 run home run in the 4th and 4 RBI in the game. For the nightcap, it was Brian Cooper going 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Stephen Randolph walked one in the final inning for the Grizz, but gave up no hits or runs. Julio Ramirez picked up 4 RBI in that game, going 2 for 4 with a double and triple. Donaldo Mendez also had a home run.

Norwich was unable to string a couple of wins together, as they fell to the Phillies 7-2. Alfredo Simon took the loss, giving up 6 runs, all earned, in 5 innings. Meanwhile, Phillies pitching scattered around 10 Navigator hits, all singles. Trey Lunsford went 2 for 3 and pick up an RBI, while Brian Buscher went 3 for 5 on the day, raising his average to .226.

The Giants rained the hits and runs down on the Storm. Giant hitters collected 20 hits in the process of scoring 14 runs, half of which came in a monster 7 run 5th inning. The Giants sent 11 batters to the plate that inning, and had 4 doubles, 2 singles and a walk in the process. The biggest day belonged to Eddy Martinez-Esteve, who weng 5 for 6 with a home run, 4 doubles and 6 RBI. He raised his average to .382, tying him for the team lead with Nate Schierholtz, who went 2 for 6 with 2 RBI. Kevin Frandsen went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a triple, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI. The lead provided more than enough support for Ben Thurmond, who gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, in 5 innings. Joe Bateman added 2 innings of scoreless relief.

Game Recap:
Another 6-5 win, but this time it was Augusta coming back, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win. Carlos Sosa reached on an error to start the inning, and then got to third after Sand Gnat pitcher Trahan committed a throwing error. After a pop out and a walk to Brad Vericker, Simon Klink hit a ground out that scored Sosa. Jake Wald followed that with a triple to score Alex Requena, who was running for Vericker, and then Nick Conte singled home Wald for the win. The comeback took starter Mike Musgrave off the hook for the loss. Musgrave allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, in 4 innings.
