Welcome to the rookie leagues, where a pitcher can take a loss despite having an ERA of 0.00, and a pitcher can be the designated hitter. Cubs starter Mark Pawelek only went 0.2 innings, giving up an unearned run after Antoan Richardson reached on an error. Richardson then got to 2nd on a wild pitch, stole 3rd, and came home on another wild pitch. Richardson would score 2 of the Giant runs despite not getting a hit, going 0 for 3 on the day. Tom Gornati got the win, going 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits and no walks while striking out 6. Pitcher Sharlon Schoop was the DH for the Giants, and went 0-3, but collected 2 walks and a stolen base.
