A couple of pitcher's duels highlighted Friday's minor league contests, and the top 2005 Giants draft pick gets a promotion! Just another day in the minors!

Fresno Grizzlies (AAA): Fresno 2, Round Rock 1 (10 Innings)

Seung Song had his best outing in AAA as he went 6.1 innings with 5 hits 2 walks allowed, leading to 1 unearned run. This kicked off a pitcher’s duel and the Grizzlies comeback win. Michael Cervenak had a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the 8th inning, and in the 10th Cervenak singled with men on first and 2nd to score Doug Clark and win the game. Todd Linden was ejected in the 6th inning for arguing calls by the home plate umpire.

Patrick Misch had another great start in AA, going 8 innings and allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk, picking up the win in a pitcher’s duel. Meanwhile, a 6th inning double by Tyler Von Schell gave the Navigators all the runs it’d need.

Eddy Martinez-Esteve had a 1 for 4 day with 2 RBI to lead the Giants to a 6-4 win. Starter Jesse Floyd went 6 inning, giving up 4 runs, 3 of them earned, while striking out 8. Clay Timpner and John Bowker each picked up 2 hits and 1 RBI each.

The GreenJackets got a split in a Friday doubleheader, but the biggest step for the GreenJackets was the return of shortstop Marcus Sanders from ongoing shoulder problems, who had been out since July 17th. Sanders went 0 for 3 in the first game. Starter Jonathan Sanchez gave up 6 runs on 9 hits over 3 innings to take the loss. Game 2 was won by the GreenJax 3-2. Caleb Salankey picked up the victory by going 6 innings and giving up only 2 runs. Brian Horwitz went 5 for 6 on the day.

Sergio Romo allowed only 3 hits over 6 innings, and Kellen Ludwig and Wayne Foltin combined for 3 perfect innings of relief for S-K’s shutout of Boise. Benjamin Copeland went 3 for 5 in his S-K debut with a double and 3 RBI. While Michael Mooney went 3 for 5 with his 4th home run of the season.
