Minor League Notebook: August 15th

Only 3 teams played on Monday, but does that mean nothing happened? No way! Who doesn't enjoy blowouts, when your team does the blowing out? And those Grizzlies didn't need extra innings in Sacramento, but does that mean they won? Just another day in the Minors!

Seung Song furthered his comeback attempt by holding the PCL leading Rivercats to just 1 hit through 5.1 innings and gaining his first win in AAA. Song did get tagged for two runs, walking two in the 6th before being replaced, and having his replacement Eugene Espineli give up a home run to the first batter he faced. Doug Clark had another good night for the Grizzlies, going 2 for 5, hitting his 13th home run of the year in the 4th and contributing 3 RBI overall.

San Jose flat out blasted the Inland Empire on Monday. The Giants took a 7-0 lead before the IE even had a chance to bat, led by a three run homer by Todd Jennings and a two run homer by Guillermo Rodriguez. Travis Ishikawa added a solo shot in the 7th inning, and Nate Schierholtz had a 3 run shot in the 9th. Only shortstop Jake Wald did not have a hit for the Giants.

S-K continued their dominance of Boise Monday, with Michael Mooney moving into the #2 slot and providing a spark, going 3 for 6 with 3 runs scored. Mark Minicozzi and Pablo Sandoval each picked up 3 RBI on 2 hits. Starter Sergio Romo went 4 innings, giving up 2 runs, 1 earned.
