Series Preview: Giants vs. Rockies

The Giants take one more stop for the weekend at Colorado before they head back home. They got out of Arizona barely splitting the series, and they'll try to make it through another hitter friendly park at Colorado. As the surprise of the NL West, the Rockies are not easy to beat as the Giants try to keep their top spot in the division.

Game #1: Jason Schmidt (0-2, 4.95) vs. Jason Jennings (1-0, 3.79)
Schmidt has been struggling this season so far. However, the Giants' ace has done well in Coors Field throughout his career. He sports an ERA less than 4.00, which is good when it comes to Coors Field. Todd Helton is ten for 45 against Schmidt with two jacks, a triple and three doubles. Matt Holliday has the best numbers against Schmidt with six hits in eighteen at-bats with a homerun and two doubles. Eli Marreo is 0-12 and Brad Hawpe is 1-7.

Steve Finley is 10-31 with one double, and Barry Bonds is 9-23 with two doubles, two jacks and ten walks. Ray Durham is 5-11, but Omar Vizquel is only 2-8 with a double and Moises Alou is 1-7 with a homerun.

Game #2: Brad Hennessey (1-0, 0.00) vs. Aaron Cook (1-2, 3.43)
Hennessey had an impressing outing in his first start of the season, after being called up to start in place of the injured Noah Lowry. Garrett Atkins is 2-9 against Hennessey, and Holliday is 1-9 with a triple. Cory Sullivan is 0-8, but Helton is 4-5 with a roundtripper and a double.

Durham is 5-14 with three doubles against Cook, and Bonds is 6-11 with one double. Pedro Feliz is 2-9 and Alou is 2-4 with a jack.

Game #3: Matt Morris (2-1, 5.03) vs. Jeff Francis (0-2, 6.75)
Morris followed two great starts with one shakey start at Arizona. He does not have many numbers against Colorado, but Helton is 7-21 with a triple and three jacks. Luis Gonzalez and former Giant Yorvit Torrealba are both 0-5 against Hennessey, but Clint Barnes is 3-4 with three doubles.

Feliz is 3-14 with a double and a triple, and Durham is 6-13 with three doubles and a homer. Lance Neikro has three hits in nine at-bats with one jack, and Vizquel and Alou are both 2-7 against Francis.

Closing it Out: Tim Worrell (6, 4.15) vs. Brian Fuentes (2, 1.29)
Worrell had his first blown save in the series finale against the Diamondbacks, but did get the win. Helton is 2-10 with a double, and none of the other Rockies have more than one hit against Worrell.

Fuentes has been doing a good job at closing for the Rockies this season. Finley is 4-14 with a double, a triple and a homer. Bonds is 6-8 with two doubles and a jack, and Feliz is 3-8 with a double. Mike Matheny is 0-6 with four strikeouts, and Durham is 1-5 with a double.
