Minor League Notebook: May 29th

For Connecticut, it all comes back to pitching. With star hitter Eddy Martinez-Esteve injured and top prospect Travis Ishikawa with the major league team, the onus falls on the staff and the last big hitter left, Nate Schierholtz. Both worked together today. Meanwhile, a one hit shutout and a tough extra inning win. Just Another Day in the Minors!

Misch committed an error on a 3rd inning bunt that allowed one of the runs he allowed to be unearned. Meanwhile, Schierholtz was a part of 4 of the runs scored by the Defenders, most of them coming in on his first inning 3 run home run.

It took San Jose a while to do it, but they finally beat 2nd place Modesto avoiding what would've been a 5 game sweep. To get the win, Bowker was hit by a pitch with one out (and was replaced by pinch runner Johany Abreu). Dobson followed with a bunt single, and a passed ball with Horwitz up advanced the runners. Horwitz was intentioanlly walked, and Minicozzi followed with a bases loaded single to take home the win.
