Minor League Notebook: September 6th

The seasons are over...but the postseason is still to come! The Volcanoes finished out the regular season in style, scoring the winning run in the 9th (albeit on the road). It's Just Another Season Finale in the Minors!

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Short-A) - Salem-Keizer 4, Eugene 3

2B Bradley Boyer - 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR (5), 2 RBI, .246

RP Jesse English - 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO, 1 HR, 6.35; BS, 1; W, 3-0
RP Wilmin Rodriguez - 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 2.45

With the last game of the season, and with the playoffs starting Thursday, the Volcanoes put out a lineup of players that haven't gotten a lot of playing time, and a couple of AZL callups. Snyder was unable to get his 5th win of the season after English allowed a home run in the 7th to tie the game at three, but in the 9th, the Volcanoes pulled it out. Michael McBryde singled with one out, and Sharlon Schoop reached on a fielder's choice that didn't get an out. C Nestor Rojas singled, and McBryde came in on a wild pitch to score the winning run.

Notes: Salem-Keizer finished the season with a league best 55-21 record. Their lead over 2nd place Eugene is 12 games, and they are 11 games better than Eastern division champ Boise. Witter finishes the season in a tie for the Home Run lead at 16, and will face the co-holder of the title, Russ Canzier, when Salem-Keizer and Boise meet in a 5 game series to decide the league championship. S-K finished the season winning only 3 of their last 6, but that followed a 12 game winning streak.
