Nate's slump continued as he fell to a .179 batting average, with a strikeout in the 7th. Minicozzi followed suit as the Beach Boys struggled at the plate, managing just a walk in the fourth, however also committing a throwing error in the 9th.
Hinshaw managed better, pitching the 6th and 7th innings. He scattered three hits, two back to back to lead off the 7th before finishing off the inning without damage done.

Two Giants prospects had big parts in the Beach Boys win. With the Beach Boys up 2-1 in the 8th, Minicozzi came up with a man on first and one out, and hit his first home run in the fall season. His 2 RBI sealed the victory.
That victory went to Quinowski, who pitched the sixth inning, and was the pitcher of record as the Beach Boys went ahead in the bottom half of the 6th. He gave up three ground balls in getting the inning in order.

AFL - Scottsdale Scorpions
Oct. 13th: Scottsdale 11, Phoenix 8
The Scorpions won bigtime on Friday the 13th. A 6 run 1st inning was keyed by an Ishikawa triple for an RBI, scoring the 6th and final run of the inning. Ishikawa, however, was thrown out at home on the next play on a ground ball to third base.
The Giants pitchers held up their end. Hedrick only faced one batter in the 5th, but he got the final out, ending a 4 run rally by Phoenix, holding onto a 1 run lead for Scottsdale, 8-7. Misch followed with a shut down 6th inning, striking out one in a 1-2-3 inning.
Oct. 14th: Peoria Javelinas 15, Scottsdale 7
Scottsdale's pitching struggled again, giving up 3 big innings of 4, 5, and 6 runs in a loss. However, Scottsdale reliever Sadler continued his domination of the league, striking out 2 while giving up just a walk, his first in the AFL campaign.
Giants batters weren't able to collect any hits, but Frandsen got 2 walks while Ishikawa collected one more. Frandsen, who commented during the season on a need to improve his plate discipline, has 4 walks in 3 innings.

Frandsen continued his impressive improvements in his speed and plate discipline. Back at second, Frandsen stole his 3rd base of the year while walking once and hitting a double, his first extra base hit of the fall.
Palmer started the game, with a solid 3 innings of work, giving up just a hit and 2 walks while striking out 3 and keeping the Rafters off the board. But Misch in the 5th inning had his first problem of the fall, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. Hedrick in the 7th inning gave up a single and a strikeout while getting a hold. But the Scorpions gave up 4 runs, 3 unearned, in the 9th to lose the game.
