Sigh...2 outs in 5 pitches. Brantley Ks on three pitches...so three outs on 8 pitches. Considering the fact that I think that the indians are 0 fer the year when they are the free game of the year, I am resigning myself to a 3 game losing streak.
Tomlin gets Holt to pop out, gets ahead of Pedroia 0-2, Pedroia fouls off a bunch of 1-2 pitches, and grounds to 2B that Kipnis boots but is able to recover and get the second out. Ortiz swings at the first pitch and grounds to ACab at 2B.
Kipnis Ks, Santana does his usual overswing, but instead of a GO, it is a pop out in foul territory to the 3Bman. Lester looking sharp. Raburn gets jammed on a fastball in. 3 outs...17 pitches...not in one inning, BUT TWO TOTAL. This is ridiculous.
Walk to heat up a Hot Pocket, come back, down 1-0, 2nd and 3rd no outs. Yeah...I think I will be switching to the NBA Finals soon.
Just found out that an error started this rally. This is freaking ridiculous. Error was by ACab THROWING OUT NAPOLI! For crying out loud! IT IS NAPOLI! HE IS SLOW! Tomlin walks the bases loaded. 3-2-3 GIDP and K swinging and Tomlin shows why he is a real pitcher.

I agree, saw the replay, pathetic on both ends, ACab just threw a dying duck to 1B and in all honesty, Santana made a horrible attempt at catching that ball, similar to the Chisenhall bad throw, it seems like he is thinking like a catcher, just knock down the ball, rather than actually trying to scoop.
And I can't believe Raburn makes me want to have Stubbs out in RF, he went back on that fly ball by Sizemore for the ground-rule double like I do on fly balls. I almost wish we could have a bunch of all-glove no-hit guys on the field to surround Chisenhall at DH and Brantley at LF.
That was 100% on Cabrera...that was an insanely long hop, can't blame any of that on Carlos...it is on the shortstop to make that easy throw. Carlos has lousy footwork, and no wingspan at all, making him a poor firstbaseman, but that was all on AC. Ridiculous.
Meanwhile, Aviles extends his league leading GIDP numbers (don't know if that's true or not, but he has to be up there).
Bourn on 2-2 (should have been 3-1, strike 2 was outside) checks his swing, but hits it just too hard and the SS is able to JUST throw him out. ACab up, and he owes the team big time for his gaffe. Not doing much to make up for it, down 0-2...I am guessing a K. Welp I was wrong, pop out to CF in RC. Out in front of something off-speed outer half of plate. Brantley makes a withdraw from the Bank of BABIP, untimely in my opinion, with two outs and no one on. Kipnis falls behind 0-2 on another pitch out of the zone. Umpire giving Lester 6-10 inches off the outside corner to lefties. 2-2, Kipnis pops to the track on LF, hit it way too hard to be able to pull a Brantley, but it was obvious Kipnis was not going that way or he would have easily been able to drive it to the wall because he hit it off the end of the bat and still got it to the warning track. Kind of frustrating, the LHH know he is trying to go outside, they should be hitting it that way.
I know he is not sexy, but I love watching Tomlin pitch. GO by Napoli to Tomlin on a kick stop. IMO even if that ball got past Tomlin, Kipnis was shaded up the middle, if nothing causes that ball to pick up speed, Kipnis should have had that. Nava makes a withdraw from the Bank of BABIP with a bloop single to RC. Sizemore Ks, Tomlin inexplicitely walks Ross AGAIN, so now facing Herrera with 1st and 2nd and two outs. Make that 2nd and 3rd as Gomes and Tomlin fool each other and a fastball goes back to the screen. 2-0 count now to Herrera, but he flies out to Bourn. Way too many pitches for Tomlin though, at this rate he will be lucky to get out of the 5th.
Raburn sucks. Santana gets a 4-pitch walk. Raburn swings at the first pitch and pops out in foul territory. Geezus. Swisher works the count, 3-2, then pops up to RF on a freaking 89MPH hanger on the outside part of the plate. Not sure WTH was with that, but it seemed like Swisher caught the Santana disease and was swinging to pull every single pitch. Gomes follows with a rip shot that flies off of the 3Bman and the attempt to throw out Santana for the force out is late. 1st and 2nd...but two outs and Aviles is up...at least he can't GIDP. Wow...Aviles actualyl took 2 balls...but of course then swings and misses by 2 feet on a cutter in at the knees. Fouls off another pitch. Takes a cutter that just misses that Rick Manning somehow can't read the KZone chart on his screen and keeps saying that Aviles was lucky, in spite of the fact that the pitch was shown 6 inches off. Aviles then pops one down the RF line...Sizemore must be shaded there All day because he is there in no time and actually overruns the ball and is sitting on the bleacher wall to make the catch in play and the ball actually seemed like it had a chance to hit chalk. Odd play.
SIgh...errors striking the pitchers too, throwing error on a pickoff after a single by BRadley has a runner at 2nd with no outs. Holt grounds one to 1B, moving Bradley over. Yeah, I am going to guess that this game will not be lost 1-0. Wow...Pedroia bounces one up the 3B line that Bradley can't score on since he would have literally ran into the ball. But for some reason, Francona decides not to IBB Ortiz and Ortiz goes deep. 3-0. Francona realizes he is managing like he wants to BEAT the Red Sox, NOT help them win right?! Napoli singles on a 1-2 pitch off the Monster, then Nava loops a liner into LC< but for some reason Napolit thinks he can get to third, Brantley throws to third, Aviles throws to 2B to get Napoli going back. OK I am done, time to root the Spurs on!
WhoAzcue wrote: In what universe do you pitch to Ortiz in that situation? I'm just dumbstruck. ("Struck by dumb.")
Francona's universe? I guess he had enough trust in Tomlin's command not to groove a pitch if he was instructed to "unintentionally" walk Ortiz, but then they should have just pitched away, away, away.
