Brantley homers to give Tribe early 1-0 lead, with absolutely no help from the top of the order. If there are two worse "igniters" in the league than Michael Bourn (.314 OBP) and Asdrubal Cabrera (.324 OBP), I'd sure like to know who they are.
More "middling" defense from our left-fielder, who guns down Ortiz at secondbase, preserving a tie in a rough 27-pitch first inning for Kluber. For a team desperate for some length from its starter today, this was not an auspicious beginning.
The only thing that can console anyone watching this game (and yesterday's game, and the one before that and the one before that and the one...) is that, looking at other teams' records, you just know they have tons of frustrating players to watch as well. But anyone who still insists we have a "good" offense can't be watching this team.
What a difference a month makes, Kluber has no command and is incredibly hittable all month. Someone needs to hypnotize Kluber so he believes it is still May. Bourn and ACab are not ideal but we don't have a lot of options although Santana being willing to do more with the field is promising. Argh! How do you not turn two on a one hopper to SS?! Game over the way this offense can't string together hits against Workman. Wasn't he supposed to be suspended?!
