House 27 pitches to get through a scoreless 1st. Watch him battle through 5 IP at 100 pitches and and keep the Indians in striking distance but then Francona does his usual asinine decision and House comes out for the sixth in spite of a well rested pen and House gives up 2 homers and the Indians eventually lose by 1.
Chisenhall gets a leadoff single with Murphy up now. Of course instead of actually thinking of a way to take advantage of Murphy and his ability to make contact and maybe do a hit and run, Francona will just let Chisenhall sit and Murphy swing away with the defense static and instead of possibly creating hole as by sending Chisenhall.
Wow...the managing genius is on display once again, so you have your young pitcher battling it out, he just committed a huge gaffe sending the leadoff hitter to third on a throwing error and you have the other team's best hitter up. Your young pitcher falls behind 2-0 and instead of telling him to just put the best hitter on because he is the best hitter, you have 1B open and to possibly set up a GIDP, no you had your young pitcher pitch and...boom you are down 2-0. Yeah way to lose a game.
Yeah based on anecdotal evidence I would have to say he is unlucky. Probably a disporportiate number of LD are getting caught. OK Francona is just maddening. You go to your most used reliever a LHP in a 2-0 game. If you are doing it because you really think you can come back and win, why have him face a RHH?! If you were just trying to eat innings up, why bring i your most used reliever? That is like the epitome of horrible managing. I swear Francona doesn't seem to know his own personnel.

TJ was pretty terrific today until he deep-sixed himself with the bad throw. His outing likely would have been even better had not Swisher just flat dropped that double play throw in the first inning. Instead of 27 pitches, he would have only thrown 11, and the last 16 that inning were high stress. That TJ battled back from that and gave us what he did was darn impressive. I like him.
Uhh except if the one that is bagging the groceries are putting the ice cream in a paper bag without double-bagging or putting the eggs at the bottom underneath the pineapples. There are issues all around, Francona has had some major bullpen issues, and the thing is, he can't blame a crappy overall bullpen for his unnecessary and sometimes misuse of Scrabble. We lost to a very very good pitcher today who will be in the Cy Young running, that is nothing to be ashamed about. Pitching to Cano after falling behind 2-0 with first base open and a 0-0 game and the go-ahead run at 1B was a decision I do not make especially with an inferior hitter on deck with a 21% KRate (24% against LHP). IF you keep pitching you throw sliders low and out of the zone, never a fastball.

What manger is going to win when his offense gets 1 hit & zero runs?
Tito isn't the problem. The problem is the owner & those buying the groceries.
