Plutko will make his first big league start on Friday night

Three years of minor league experience has finally added up to a big league opportunity for RHP Adam Plutko (0-0, 7.36). The UCLA product will make his first professional start on Friday night vs Kansas City.

June 24, 2013.

The day RHP Adam Plutko pitched six innings of one-run ball to Mississippi State in the 2013 College World Series. Shortly thereafter, the UCLA pitcher was named Most Outstanding Player and was later drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

After two relief appearances, Plutko is slated to make his first start for the Tribe on Friday at 8:15 PM vs Kansas City at Kauffman Stadium.

The righty split time between both AA Akron and AAA Columbus this summer. His numbers: 28 Starts, 9 W, 8 L, 161.2 IP, 151 H, 69 R, 67 ER, 46 BB, 130 K, 3.73 ERA.

Plutko has an average fastball velocity of 91.55 miles per hour through 50 pitches, 1.49 miles per hour below the major league average.

With Plutko being an unlikely candidate to make the postseason roster, Friday will mark a huge opportunity for him to make an impression on the Indians coaching staff heading into the 2017 campaign.
