Storylines: Orioles showing interest in Brandon Moss

The Orioles continue to consider other options to Mark Trumbo as they are showing some interest in slugger Brandon Moss...

Top Storylines:

- The Baltimore Orioles were at the forefront of the hot stove action on Friday when they got veteran outfielder Seth Smith from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for pitcher Yovani Gallardo.  Despite getting Smith, the Orioles are still in the market for bats as they are showing some interest in slugger Brandon Moss per Jon Morosi of MLB Network.  The Orioles are still open to bringing back Mark Trumbo whom slugged a career-high 47 home runs in 2016 but talks just haven’t been that close up to now.  Moss would probably be a fallback option.  He hit .225/.300/.484 and 28 home runs in 2016 for the St. Louis Cardinals.  The Cardinals are unlikely to bring Moss back due to their desire to field a better defensive team.  Moss is capable of playing first base, outfield and can also hit at the designated hitter’s spot.  His left-handed power should play well at the launch pad that is Camden Yards with the short right field porch.  Nothing is close as of right now but Moss is another name for Orioles fans to keep a lookout on as the offseason continues.

Other Storylines:

- The San Diego Padres are showing interest in veteran pitchers Doug Fister, Jake Peavy and Jered Weaver per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  The most likely one to come to the Padres appears to be Fister and the least likely appears to be Weaver.  All three pitchers have lost some velocity on their fastballs but should be able to eat some innings up for the rebuilding Padres.
