Around the Farm: January 9, 2017 - Aguilar keeps rolling in postseason

On a quiet night Around the Farm, the duo of Erik Gonzalez and Jesus Aguilar continue to put forth good winter ball showings...

Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians players throughout the system. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Caribbean Leagues and Arizona Fall League. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

Liga de Beisbol Dominicano

Erik Gonzalez (SS, Leones del Escogido) 1-4, SO. Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to six games by collecting another postseason hit. Gonzalez got off to a rough start to the postseason, but has seemed to right the ship. Gonzalez is hitting just .244 this postseason in the Dominican, but batted .273 during the regular season. It has been a very successful past season for Gonzalez, and he will take that positive momentum with him when he heads to spring training.

Liga Venezuela Beisbol Profesional

Jesus Aguilar (1B, Bravos de Margarita) 1-4. Aguilar stayed hot at the dish as his postseason average now sits at a blistering .370. Of all the Indians farmhands to play winter ball this offseason, Aguilar has arguably had the best performance of anyone. Aguilar has hit for power with 10 bombs in 140 at-bats during the Venezuelan regular season, and has had more clutch power hits during the playoffs. Even more impressive for Aguilar has been his high average and on-base percentage. If Aguilar can continue to hit for average and get on base then he could position himself to make some noise this summer.
