· It was a tough Sunday for Major League Baseball and its fans around the world. Former Tribe infielder Andy Marte and current Kansas City Royals righty Yordano Ventura passed away in separate car accidents in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. This comes just four months after the sudden death of Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez. Marte was 33 and Ventura was 25. Marte was a top prospect of the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox. He was traded to the Indians in 2005 for outfielder Coco Crisp, closer David Riske and catcher Josh Bard. Since then, he played with the KT Wiz in South Korea where he hit .312 and 20 HR in his two seasons there. Ventura was promoted to the Royals in 2013 where he pitched so well that he earned a starting spot in 2014. In the last game of Marte’s MLB career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ventura was the starting pitcher. Ventura's last game was against the Indians on September 30.
