Around The Farm: January 27, 2017 - Ronny Rodriguez now the lone Indian playing winter ball

With Joe Colon not on the Criollos de Caguas' Caribbean Series roster and Yonathan Mendoza unlikely to be picked up by the Aguilas del Zulia as a refuerzo, Ronny Rodriguez is the last current Indian remaining in winter ball. Read about his performance on Friday as well as those of a few former Indians as the IBI's Arthur Kinney takes you Around The Farm...

Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians players throughout the system. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Caribbean Leagues and Arizona Fall League. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE (LIDOM)

Ronny Rodriguez (Aguilas Cibaenas, 1B) - 2-5, 1 3B, 1 K - Ronny-Rod made it back-to-back multi-hit games following a three game hitless streak as the Aguilas won their second straight game to force a decisive ninth game in the Serie Final after being driven to the brink of elimination by losing the three games in which Rodriguez failed to get a hit.  As Ronny-Rod goes, so go the Aguilas.

Josh Judy (Aguilas Cibaenas, RP) - 1 IP, 1 BB - Judy closed out the Aguilas' Game 8 victory with this solid ninth inning effort.  Judy remains unscored upon this winter in 34.2 IP in 34 games.

Anderson Hernandez (Tigres del Licey, 2B) - 1-4 - Hernandez picked up his first hit of the Serie on Friday and is now 1-for-14 (.071) in the championship round, far behind his .264 batting average in the regular season and his .271 Round Robin average.

Gabriel Arias (Tigres del Licey, RP) - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB (intentional), 1 K - This was by far the best pitching effort of an ugly evening for the Tigres on the mound.

AUSTRALIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE (ABL)

Mitch Nilsson (Brisbane Bandits, DH) - 2-4 - Nilsson began the final weekend of the ABL regular season with a multi-hit effort that increased his slash line to .336/.416/.555 in 32 games.
