Series Preview 4/14-4/16: Cleveland Indians vs. Detroit Tigers

After a dominating 2016 season series, the Indians will look to sustain their success over the Tigers despite losing five of their last six contests.

Matchup

The Cleveland Indians (4-5) and Detroit Tigers (6-3) play the first of six series scheduled throughout the 2017 regular season. In 2016, the Tribe won 11 consecutive games against their divisional rival before rounding out the campaign with a 14-4 record, the third-best record in any season vs. Detroit (12-0 in 1996, 8-2 in 1994). Both clubs are well-represented atop the hard hit rate rankings with Nicholas Castellanos (71.4%) and Yandy Diaz (70.8%) placing first and second respectively. The Tigers are managed by Brad Ausmus and playing their first night game of 2017 on Friday at Progressive Field.
