Around The Farm: May 20, 2017 - Mejia shines in return from DL.

Francisco Mejia showed no signs of rust in his first game in nearly two weeks after being activated from the DL. Read about his stellar outing and all of the other notable performances in the Indians minor league system on Saturday as the IBI''s Arthur Kinney takes you Around The Farm...

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Cleveland prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

Louisville Hartford 6 6 0
Potomac 3 15 1 West Michigan 6 11 1
Lynchburg 4 9 0 Lake County 2 7 1

Francisco Mejia (Akron, DH) - 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI - Mejia's return from the 7-day Disabled List was a triumphant one marked by multiple extra-base hits and multiple RBI.  He also got his batting average back over the .300 mark (slash line now stands at .302/.340/.500 in 22 games), which it had dropped under during a 0-for-17 (four games) mini-slump not long before he went on the DL in early May.  Hopefully, Mejia can stay healthy and keep hitting like this.

The Rest

Bobby Bradley (Akron, 1B) - 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB - Bradley continued to be feast-or-famine on Saturday as he made it five straight outings with either multiple or no hits (two multi-hit, three no-hit) with this effort highlighted by a two-run homer in the eighth inning.

Dorssys Paulino (Akron, LF) - 3-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 CS - Paulino had a perfect day at the plate but not so much on the basepaths.

Thomas Pannone (Akron, SP) - L (0-1), 5.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R (5 earned), 2 BB (1 intentional), 5 K, 2 HR allowed, 1 E - Pannone follows up his solid Double-A debut (3 H and 3 BB in 5.2 shutout innings) with this far less stellar effort.  Obviously, it's still too soon to read anything into either outing.

Leandro Linares (Akron, RP) - 2.2 IP, 1 BB, 3 K - Linares kept the RubberDucks in the game with his near-perfect Double-A debut.  Unfortunately, the offense couldn't capitalize and mount a successful comeback.

Martin Cervenka (Lynchburg, C) - 2-7, 1 RBI - While it took a 15-inning game, Cervenka has back-to-back multi-hit games for the first time since the opening week of the season.

Andrew Calica (Lynchburg, CF) - 3-6, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB - Calica extended his hitting streak to eight games and scored the inning run in the bottom of the 15th on Saturday.

Willi Castro (Lynchburg, SS) - 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K - Castro extended his hit streak to seven games and his multi-hit streak to four contests and also drove in the aforementioned game-winning run.

Shane Bieber (Lynchburg, SP) - ND, 6.2 IP, 10 H, 2 R (both earned), 4 K - Bieber continues his pattern of allowing too many runners on base but keeping them from scoring.

Jordan Milbrath (Lynchburg, RP) - H (1), 1,1 IP, 1 H, 1 HBP - Milbrath makes it four scoreless outings out of five this year.

Jared Robinson (Lynchburg, RP) - BS (1), 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 2 BB (1 intentional), 1 WP - Robinson allowed his first earned run of the month and was charged with his first blown save of the season.

Justin Garcia (Lynchburg, RP) - W (2-1), 4 IP, 1 BB,7 K - Garcia's longest outing of the year was also his best as his four masterful extra innings of relief kept the game tied until the Hillcats could score the game-winning run in the 15th inning.

Alexis Pantoja (Lake County, 2B) - 2-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K - Pantoja's second multi-hit effort in four games was one of the few highlights of a rough evening for the Captains.

Li-Jen Chu (Lake County, C) - 2-4, 1 2B, 2 K - Chu continues to be a bright spot in a weak Lake County lineup, batting .299/.404/.423 with 15 RBI in 38 games.

Conner Capel (Lake County,, CF) - 2-4, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 K - Capel doubled twice and scored both times in his second multi-hit game in the past four days.

Aaron Civale (Lake County, SP) - L (2-3), 6.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R (all earned), 1 BB, 3 K - Civale's uneven season continues as he has allowed two or more earned runs in five of his last six outings.

Michael Letkewicz (Lake County, RP) - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K - Letkewicz rebounded nicely from allowing two earned runs on four hits in one inning in his last outing with this solid eighth frame on Saturday night.
