2017 Cleveland Indians 17th Round Draft Pick: Pedro Alfonseca, CF from Black Hawk College

In the 117h round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected shortstop Pedro Alfonseca with the 522nd overall pick.

At pick 522 in the 17th round, the Cleveland Indians have selected shortstop Pedro Alfonseca out of Black Hawk College.

Born: 9/4/97 — Height: 6'0" — Weight: 178 — Bats: Right — Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Pedro Alfonseca is a redraft by the Indians that I expect them to sign. He was taken in the 39th round by the Tribe a year ago and was one of the harder guys for me to track information. He hit over .400 this past year for Black Hawk Junior College. He also stole 38 bases. I would expect him to sign as the Indians are drafting him again this high. He was not on a lot of radars, so Cleveland must be big fans of Alfonseca as his likely destination is the Arizona League Indians.

Press Release: Drafted by the Indians in the 39th round of the 2016 draft out of North Kansas City High School (MO) but did not sign…led NJCAA Region 4 with 37 stolen bases and batted .401 with five homers, eight doubles, five triples and 37 RBI in 46 games.
