2017 Cleveland Indians 23rd Round Draft Pick: Jordan Scheftz, RHP from the University of Central Florida

In the 23rd round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher Jordan Scheftz with the 702nd overall pick.

At pick 702 in the 23rd round, the Cleveland Indians have selected right-handed pitcher Jordan Scheftz out of the University of Central Florida.

Born: 8/31/95 — Height: 6'3" — Weight: 190 — Bats: Right — Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Jordan Scheftz was taken in the 28th round last year by the Boston Red Sox. He bounced around a lot during his college years, which is going to be a common refrain on a lot of players the Indians take from this point on. They had success in the past with these players who never had consistent coaching in college. Scheftz is a likely reliever prospect who posted high strikeout and walk rates this year.

Press Release: Compiled a 1.76 ERA over 26 relief appearances in his junior season at Central Florida…struck out 40 batters in 30.2 innings (11.74K/9.0IP) and did not allow a home run.
