2017 Indians 32nd Rd Pick: Mitch Reeves, RF from Florida Southern College

In the 32nd round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected right fielder Mitch Reeves with the 972nd overall pick.

At pick 972 in the 32nd round, the Cleveland Indians have selected right fielder Mitch Reeves out of Florida Southern College.

Jeff Ellis: Mitch Reeves is the one player in the 30’s that will sign for sure as he is a senior from Florida Southern. He has bounced around a lot during his college days, playing for three different programs. He settled into the program at Florida Southern and put up big numbers over the last two years. The coach at Florida Southern is Lance Niekro, the son of Ohio’s own Joe Niekro. Reeves played third base in his first year, but was an outfielder in 2017. He is not the biggest guy, but hit 17 home runs with a high batting average and walk totals. Reeves will have to compete with the high picks from last year for a chance to play every day in the outfield with Mahoning Valley.
