2017 Indians 37th Rd Pick: Austin Martin, SS from Trinity Christian Academy

In the 37th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected shortstop Austin Martin with the 1122nd overall pick.

At pick 1122 in the 37th round, the Cleveland Indians have selected shortstop Austin Martin out of Trinity Christian Academy.

Born: 3/23/99 — Height: 5'11" — Weight: 160 — Bats: Right — Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Austin Martin is committed to Vanderbilt. Do I really need to say more? He has potential to be a plus defender at shortstop and could start for Vanderbilt sooner than later. The only question is if his weaker arm will force a move to second base. The bat is a work in progress, but his potential defense up the middle is what made the Indians draft him even though they knew he was not signing.
