2017 Indians 38th Rd Pick: Scott Kobos, LHP from St. Johns River State College

In the 38th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected left-handed pitcher Scott Kobos with the 1152nd overall pick.

At pick 1152 in the 38th round, the Cleveland Indians have selected left-handed pitcher Scott Kobos out of St. Johns River State College.

Born: 8/3/97 — Height: 6'2" — Weight: 175 — Bats: Left — Throws: Left

Jeff Ellis: Scott Kobos was a freshman outfielder at UNC Asheville, but ended up at St. Johns River State Junior College in Florida. He is just 19-years-old and even though he is a sophomore, he is young for his class. He appeared in just 13 as a starter with a strikeout rate over eight. He is a six-foot lefty, so the long term outlook is likely a reliever. I would bet on him signing with the Indians.

Press Release: Went 6-3 with a 3.01 ERA in 13 starts for St. Johns River State, striking out 68 batters in 71.2 innings.
