2017 Indians 39th Rd Pick: Joshua Rolette, C from Kansas State

In the 39th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, the Cleveland Indians have selected catcher Joshua Rolette with the 1182nd overall pick.

At pick 1182 in the 39th round, the Cleveland Indians have selected catcher Joshua Rolette out of Kansas State University.

Born: 5/21/96 — Height: 5'11" — Weight: 195 — Bats: Left — Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Josh Rolette is a draft-eligible sophomore. He seems likely to return to Kansas State where he has been a starter the last two years. He was an 18th round selection by the Cardinals out of high school in 2015. Rollete walked more than he struck out this year and while his average dropped 71 points, his increase in walks meant his OPS was actually higher than the year before. If he can continue to increase his home run totals and his batting average improves, then Rollete could be a top three round selection next year.

Press Release: All-Big 12 Freshman Team, Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2016.
