Mike Carp Profile
The Mariners made a roster move prior to game two of the Japan Opening Series with the A's today, placing outfielder Mike Carp on the 15-day disabled list and recalling OF Carlos Peguero -- who is with the club in Japan as a member of the 30-man roster that traveled -- from Triple-A Tacoma.
Carp hurt his shoulder in the opener when he dove and narrowly missed catching the fourth inning double off the bat of A's catcher Kurt Suzuki that drove in the lone run for Oakland in the M's 3-1 extra-inning win. He finished the game, going 0-4 but making a nice catch against the wall later, and was examined afterwards by the club. He will be re-evaluated when the M's get back to Arizona tomorrow.
Because of the Mariners unique schedule, Carp will be eligible to be activated from the DL on April 12th after having only missed seven regular season games. Chone Figgins started in left field for Carp on Thursday, with Kyle Seager getting the start at third base.
