Miguel Olivo Profile
Miguel Olivo injured his right groin in the 9th inning tonight when trying to make a tough play on a dribbler in front of the plate by speedy B.J. Upton. Olivo had to be helped off the field and said afterwards that he, "felt a pop", which means this will more than likely be a DL trip that will last longer than 15 days...perhaps much longer.
Those that have been clamoring for more time behind the plate for both Jesus Montero and John Jaso (who has yet to catch for the Mariners) will likely get their wish now, but it is still possible that the Mariners call up a 3rd catcher yet again, with the most likely candidate being veteran Quillermo Quiroz.
Quiroz is a name that may be familiar to Mariner fans as he's had 24 plate appearances for the club in three stints since 2006. Currently in Tacoma, he is hitting .248/.328/.463 in 16 games for the Rainiers.
