Honestly, I've always been a big Hart fan & have thought of him as an under the radar star because he played in Milwaukee. So I might be a bit biased. Two micro-fracture surgeries is nothing to sneeze at but he didn't look geriatric before he went down. Rather, he looked like a confident veteran shaking off rust after not playing for a very long time.
Going forward I doubt he sees any outfield time despite the chatter this spring. An OPS around .800 down the stretch sounds about right splitting time between DH & 1B. Smoak with drastically reduced PT & Morrison soaking up a lot of that. Lineups with replacement types at DH &/or 1B for the most part a thing of the past.
Nice! I'm happy to see Smoak staying down in AAA, they should throw him in as a part of a trade somewhere. someone might want him if he doesn't cost much. I would like to say the same thing about Ackley but I don't think any team would want him even if Seattle tried to give him away for nothing.
