Key Statistics: C Grandal 2-4, RBI; SS Gregorio Petit 2-4, 2B, RBI; RF Robertson 0-3, RBI, SB(11) 2BBs; RHP O'Sullivan (W, 3-2) 7.0 IP 6 H 2 R 2 ER BB 4 Ks; RHP Boxberger (S) 0.1 IP K.
Prospect Watch:Regardless of the score the big news was the return of Yasmani Grandal from his fifty games suspension for PEDs. Grandal, who caught all nine innings, had an RBI single in his first at-bat and was 2-4 on the evening..Sean O'Sullivan continues to make a push for a spot on the big club with seven strong innings tonight. In his last four starts O'Sullivan has an ERA of 2.74. If the Padres don't call him up by June 15 its a good bet someone else will...Shortstop Gregorio Petit, who had previous stops with the A's, Rangers and Indians is now hitting .326/.368/.433. However he has an OPS of .918 OPS at home and .694 OPS on the road.

Missions 9 - Frisco RoughRiders 6
Key Statistics: RF Sams 3-4, (2) 2Bs, HR(7), BB, (2) SB, 3 RBIs; 1B Limonta 2-4, 2B, RBI; 3B Blackwood 2-4, RBI, BB; RHP Roach 3.0 IP 5 H 5 R 4 ER 3 BBs 2 Ks; LHP Rearick (W, 2-0) 2.0 IP H K; RHP Stites 1.0 IP H R ER BB HR; RHP Quackenbush (S,6) 1.0 IP H 2 Ks.
Prospect Watch: Who is Kalian Sams and where did he come from? Sams, 26, a native of the Hague and a member of the Dutch national team, spent eight years in the Mariners organization before signing with the Padres in early May. At 6'2" and two hundred and fifty pounds he has been a load for the Missions' offense at .361/.500/.1,083 in eleven games...Roach, who after spring many considered one of the top Padres' pitching prospects, has really struggled in four starts in May with a 7.50 ERA. While Roach's bread-and-butter is inducing the ground ball he is going to have to do a better job of missing bats with a 26/19 K/BB ratio...many claim that Kevin Quackenbush really doesn't have a second pitch or his velocity isn't as high as others and while that may be true his results are difficult to argue with. Tonight Quackenbush opened the ninth with fanning the first two batters before getting his sixth save of the year. Quackenbush has now struck out 25 batters in 18.1 innings as right-handed batters are hitting .088 against him.
Storm 7 - Modesto Nuts 2
Key Statistics: SS Peterson 2-4, RBI; 3B Jones 2-4, 2B, 3 RBIs; RHP Needy (W, 1-1) 6.0 IP 8 H 4 R 3 ER 2 BBs 5 Ks.
Prospect Watch: 3B Duanel Jones had the big blow in the game with a two-run double in the sixth. Jones, who is regarded as one of the better athletes in the system, has struggled to make consistent contact but is also only twenty years old. Tonight's double was only Jones' fourth extra-base hit of the season...With Matt Wisler in San Antonio James Needy is now the ace of the staff. The 6'6" former Santana High School star's peripheral numbers, particularly his 23/21 K/BB ratio isn't quite where he would like it but anyone will take a 3.23 ERA in the Cal League.
Lake County Captains 3- TinCaps 2
Key Statistics: RF Adamson 2-3, BB; 1B Tejada 2-3, 3B, RBI; RHP Mejia (L, 2-4) 5.0 IP 5 H 3 R ER BB 2Ks.
Prospect Watch: Three errors sent Ruben Mejia to his fourth loss of the season and third as a starter. Despite a losing record Mejia has pitched well since being inserted into the rotation with a 1.76 ERA in his last three starts...While Corey Adamson only has nine extra-base hits in 137 plate appearances he is doing an excellent job of getting on-base with a .400 OBP with a 17/20 BB/K ratio. Still the belief among those in the organization is that you have to learn to hit before the power will come, and Adamson is certainly showing this season he is on his way.
