Jon Huber went 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA for the Storm this season. His eight wins led the team and his 107 innings pitched were second to David Pauley. He also struck out a team leading 100 batters and was really coming into his own at 23. A former fifth round pick out of North Fort Meyers High School in 2000, received praise from those within the Padres front office but the team believed it needed to upgrade its bench and went back to the well.
Dave Hansen, 35, is a 14 year veteran who has played in the Majors for 14 years. Hansen spent the2003 season with the Padres, hitting .244 in 110 at bats. Hansen was dealt to the Mariners in the deal that netted Jeff Cirillo and Brian Sweeney in exchange for Hansen, Wiki Gonzalez, Kevin Jarvis and Vince Faison.
Hansen was hitting .282 in 78 at bats for the Mariners with two homers, 12 RBI's and 18 walks for a .412 on base percentage.
The loss of Huber leaves a hole in the Storm rotation as they closed within one of the California League Southern Division lead.
