The Tacoma Rainiers will join the millions of Americans and people worldwide who have stepped up to assist victims of the tsunamis in their time of need.
Stop by Cheney Stadium and shop a flea market of baseball related items, play in the Fun Zone, eat hot dogs, participate in the silent auction, and take a tour of the club house. All food and games will be complimentary, but donations will be accepted on site.
The Rainiers' flea market will allow fans to purchase some of their favorite team memorabilia at discounted prices. And best of all, 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Northwest Medical Teams. Northwest Medical Teams is a local charity with an office in Bellevue that provides humanitarian assistance to people all over the world. They are a volunteer driven organization that not only distributes supplies to those in need but also provides medical and dental help.
Additionally, 96 percent of donations received by Northwest Medical Teams goes directly to their programs and services.
Because of the off-season seat replacement project going on at Cheney Stadium, the Rainiers will auction four of our wooden reserved seats originally from Seals Stadium in San Francisco. Other silent auction items will include a game-used Mike Cameron bat, a game-worn Bucky Jacobsen jersey and an Ichiro autographed ESPN magazine.
Those who are present will also have an opportunity to win other great memorabilia like a game-used Jamal Strong bat, team autographed baseballs, bobblehead dolls and Rainiers tickets by participating in the raffle drawing. Parents can shop and bid while kids can play in the exciting Fun Zone, a supervised area of inflatable games.
All of you are encouraged to come out and support the effort to raise money for the victims of the tsunamis in Southern Asia and Africa. And spend some off-season time with the friendly folks at Cheney Stadium. If you can't make it Saturday, visit the Rainiers website for a link to an auction of Jeremy Reed's 2004 game worn jersey.
