After taking a break from the journal, I am back with one of the final journal entries for the 2005 season. It seems as if the season just started yesterday. Currently, we are in third place after dropping our second consecutive game to the Tulsa Drillers. Only a game separates us from first place, though, so the upcoming games have become that much more important. We have one more game against Tulsa tonight (Editor's Note: San Antonio won, 6-2), then onto Wichita for three games before heading home for another series against Tulsa.
One of the questions I was asked a few days ago was about former teammate Jeff Harris and the success he has had this year. I was excited to get a question like this because everyone here in San Antonio was pumped to see him finally get a call up to the bigs. And what made it better was when they flashed up his stats from the first game he pitched in Detroit, and everyone in the stats applauded, not to mention us in the dugout.
Personally, I have never seen a pitcher work as hard every day he came to the park as Harris did in his short time here in San Antonio, and it has obviously paid off.
On the message boards I received a question asking if I have been able to talk pitching with Jamie Moyer or Bryan Price? While I have not been able to talk to Bryan Price, I did have the privilege to talk to Jamie Moyer last year while I was with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Among the things he talked to me about were pitching situations, setting up hitters, the mental aspect of pitching, and professional baseball as a whole. It was a great opportunity to be able to talk to someone that has had so much success in this game and hopefully it won't be the last conversation with him.
Well, thanks so much for your continued support throughout this season and please send your questions for my final journal entry to firstname.lastname@example.org.
