Mariners System Goes 6-1 On Wednesday

Six of the seven Mariner farm clubs that played last night picked up wins, including the first win of the year for the Everett AquaSox and a sixth-straight road win for the High Desert Mavs. Read on for details on all of last night's action in the minors.

THE LOWDOWN

Tacoma 7, Las Vegas 4

In the 104-degree heat, Joseph Woerman turned it up even further on the 51s, turning in perhaps his best start of the year. Woerman allowed one earned run on three hits in six innings to get his second win of the season. The Rainiers gave him plenty of support, scoring four runs in the second inning and three more in the third to run away and hide from the 51s.

Huntsville 7, West Tenn 5

A night after winning the first-half division title in Huntsville, the Jaxx dropped the second of a six-game series with the Stars. Jon Nelson hit two homers for West Tenn. Doug Fister took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in four innings of work.

High Desert 5, Lancaster 2

The Mavericks wrapped up a 6-0 road trip with another win over the JetHawks on Wednesday. The Mavs are now 3-0 in the second half of the season. Kuo Hui Lo continued his tear, blasting his second homer in three games. Alfredo Venegas pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up his fourth win. Chris Minaker's three-run double in the fifth inning provided the margin of victory.

Wisconsin is off until Thursday.

Everett 4, Spokane 1

A night after giving up 15 runs, the AquaSox held the Indians in check on Wednesday. Walter Suriel threw seven strong innings for the Sox and Nate Tenbrink had his first professional hit and drove in two runs on the night.

Pulaski 6, Princeton 4

The Mariners rallied from a late 4-0 deficit to beat the Rays for a second straight night to start the season. Pulaski took advantage of two Princeton errors in the eighth inning and put up a five spot to go ahead for good. Mario Martinez had three hits to lead the Mariners.
