The Mets and Dodgers are getting ready to play a pivotal Game 3 of five games series after the first two games were split on the West Coast.
After two wild games in Los Angeles, the series may just be getting started as both teams head to Citi Field for a two game set that will either result in a winner or a Game 5. While the Dodgers have used both of their aces, both Cy Young candidates, the Mets have only used two of their four aces. What better pitcher to use in the first ever playoff game at Citi Field than Matt Harvey? It’s the perfect start to a journey that hopefully went end anytime soon.
Monday: Matt Harvey (2.71 ERA) vs Brett Anderson (3.69 ERA)
The Dark Knight will look to save Gotham’s City in what should be an electric atmosphere at Citi Field in the first ever playoff game at Citi Field. In his last three starts Harvey has pitched to a 1.02 era with 24 strikeouts. Despite having a solid year, Anderson has not been anywhere near the same ballpark as every pitcher who has been deployed in this series and it could mean him getting rocked at Citi Field. Especially because he has pitched to a 7.16 era in his last three starts and very minimal swing and miss action with only five strikeouts.
Harvey shines for seven innings of one run ball and Wilmer Flores stepping in for Ruben Tejada rocks Anderson thanks in part to a bases loaded clearing double. Mets win 7-2
