Bartolo Colon is living proof that the fountain of youth does exist. The soon-to-be 43-year-old was brilliant against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, tossing eight scoreless innings, scattering seven hits and striking out seven batters. The New York Mets home run barrage was in full-effect in the first inning as David Wright opened the scoring with a solo-shot to left-centerf ield. After Michael Conforto singled to right, Yoenis Cespedes blasted a two-run bomb to extend the Amazin's early lead to 3-0. Lucas Duda followed Cespedes and blasted a solo homer to make it 4-0.
The Braves were held scoreless until they scratched out a run off closer Jeurys Familia in a non-save situation in the ninth inning. Colon improved to 2-1 on the year and his ERA drop6ped to 2.56. The Mets have now won four straight against Atlanta and they send Matt Harvey to the mound on Tuesday seeking his third consecutive victory of the young season.
