The New York Mets offense has been scuffling through the first few months of the season and General Manager Sandy Alderson acknowledges that changes need to be made in the clubhouse. With David Wright likely out for the year after undergoing neck surgery and Lucas Duda still recovering from a fractured back, the Amazin’s infield has been ravaged by injuries.
The Mets should take a flyer on Jose Reyes. He would come cheap and could slide in nicely at third base. New York can keep the middle infield combination of Neil Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera together, while adding more team speed and athleticism on the base-paths. Reyes is clearly not the player he once was, but he is set to become a free agent on Saturday and a reunion in Queens could be just what the doctor ordered for the Mets lackluster offense.
