New York Mets pitchers Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey resume throwing program

A pair of Mets standout pitchers were videoed playing long toss during warm-ups on Monday.

Since being diagnosed with a torn lat muscle on May 1, fireballer Noah Syndergaard has been unable to throw a baseball, that is until now. The New York Mets blonde haired hero was seen long-tossing with fellow injured starter Matt Harvey prior to Monday night's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Amazin's pitching staff has been ravaged by injury, but it appears the duo has resumed a throwing program and could be back with the club in a matter of weeks, not months.

The only problem, the Mets trail the red-hot Washington Nationals by 13.5 games in the N.L. East race and are 9.5 games back of the Colorado Rockies for the second N.L. Wildcard spot. New York could be getting significant reinforcements back in the fold soon, but they'll need to stay within striking distance in the playoff chase to prevent General Manager Sandy Alderson from selling off assets ahead of the July 31 MLB trade deadline.
