The 43-year-old left-hander, who missed the entire 2002 season after undergoing elbow surgery, ranks second in major league history with 424 career saves. Last season he finished 0-3 with a 2.62 ERA in 38 games
He's taking it one step at a time and not looking to the 2005 season and whether or not he will continue to play.
"I'm taking it one month at a time, one year at a time," he continued to the Associated Press. "I'm not looking down the road. I'm just concerned with the 2004 season."
Franco spent his first six with the Cincinnati Reds before being shipped to the Mets on December 6, 1989 for Randy Myers and Kip Gross.
