Cyclones Win Home Opener 4-3

BROOKLYN, NY - The Brooklyn Cyclones improved to 4-0 in home openers with a 4-3 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 8,526 at Keyspan Park.

Tyler Davidson led the way for the Cyclones with two doubles driving in a run, and also scoring a run. Also contributing were second baseman Kevin Rios with a two run double in the first inning. Left fielder Dante Brinkley, and right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion both had a single, and a run scored. Center fielder Derran Watts scored what ended up being the winning run in the third inning, after reaching on a single. Watts also stole two bases, his third and fourth of the season.

Starting pitcher Ivan Maldonado (1-0) went 5 2-3 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking two, and striking out three.

Celso Rondon was brought in to relieve Maldonado, and pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings allowing just one hit, while striking out two.

Carlos Muniz pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save of the season, his sixteenth overall as a Cyclone, tying Robert Paulk for the team record.

The Cyclones now head to Tri City (5-0) for a three game series with the Valleycats, before coming back home Saturday to begin a four game home stand.

Notes: Joe Williams (0-0 4.15) will be the starting pitcher Wednesday night for the Cyclones. Edgar Alfonzo is scheduled to throw in relief on Wednesday.
