Mets Sign 2004 1st Round Pick, Philip Humber

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Mets have reached an agreement with first-round draft selection Philip Humber, according to a MLB.com report.

The deal, which is pending a physical on Tuesday in New York, is in the neighborhood of $3 million, according to a source.

The Rice University righthander was chosen third overall in the June 2004 draft after going 13-4 with a 2.27 ERA, 154 strikeouts and 37 walks in 115 innings.

Humber is expected to be in Port. St. Lucie on Wednesday to work out at the Mets' winter mini-camp.
