Suns' Carp, Psomas selected for SAL Home Run Derby

The South Atlantic League announced today that Suns players Mike Carp (1B) and Grant Psomas (3B) have been selected to take part in the All-Star Home Run Derby prior to the 46th Annual All-Star game, to be held in Augusta, GA, on June 28th.

The Suns players are two of eight team representatives named to the North Division All-Star squad.

Carp is tied for 2nd in the league with 15 home runs and paces the Suns with 46 RBI's. Grant Psomas is on the league leader board in many categories hitting a healthy .317 with 14 home runs and 35 RBI. The players compose two of the ten home run derby contestants.

The Home Run Derby will take place at 5:15pm just prior to the All Star Game beginning at 7:35pm.

The Suns are beginning the final, and most critical, series of the first half tonight as they take on the West Virginia Power at Municipal Stadium.
