Through 15 games at Rookie-league Kingsport, the 19-year-old Evans – a fifth round selection of the Mets in the June 2004 draft – was hitting .344 (22-for-64) with six home runs, seven doubles, 22 runs batted in and 11 runs scored.
The Arizona native had compiled hits in each of his last five games, including a 5-for-5 showing on July 4 against Johnson City that included three doubles and six RBI.
Also promoted to Brooklyn was outfielder Kyle Brown, 23, who played five games with Brooklyn last season. He was hitting .279 (12-for-33) in 15 games for Kingsport, including 16 runs scored, four doubles, four RBI and 12 stolen bases.
Infielder Yury Santana was promoted from Kingsport to Hagerstown (A) of the South Atlantic League.
Playing third base, shortstop and second base for the K-Mets, the 22-year-old Santana was hitting .243 (9-for-37) with seven runs scored, six doubles and five RBI for Kingsport.
