Tickets to the event are $7 if purchased in advance or $8 if purchased the day of the event. All proceeds are going to the non-profit Children's Village, a life safety education center attended by all of Washington County's 2nd graders.
Each of the Hagerstown Suns players and coaches will be on-hand at the event including an open autograph session from 5:30-6:15pm. The ticket price also includes free fare such as hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, soft drinks and other standard "ballpark concessions" provided by the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center.
"I want to send our team off into the playoffs excited and ready to play!" exclaimed Suns General Manager Kurt Landes. "This is a great opportunity for our fans and the community to show their support of our playoff team while helping a great cause at the same time with the Children's Village."
Master of Ceremonies Tom Riford will preside over an event agenda that will include introductions of the playoff-bound Hagerstown Suns, a special playoff proclamation, guest speakers and, of course, a good old-fashioned pep rally. "Battlefield Orange" is the team's playoff slogan and, like all playoff events and games, the Suns encourage all fans to wear orange apparel to the event.
The Suns will begin the 2005 playoffs on Wednesday, September 7th, when they travel to the North Division's 2nd half winner for game #1. The Delmarva Shorebirds, single A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, currently hold a 5.5 game lead with just 14 games to play in the second half and will likely be the team's first-round playoff opponent. "Battlefield Orange" will then march back to Municipal Stadium for games #2 (Friday, September 9th at 7:05pm) and #3 if necessary (Saturday, September 10th at 7:05pm). The South Atlantic League Championship series, should the Suns advance, would begin at Municipal Stadium on Monday, September 12th. Suns playoff individual and group tickets are currently on sale.
Tickets for the "Playoff Pep Rally" can be purchased by calling the Suns at 301.791.6266, by calling Children's Village at 301-733-4443 or by purchasing online at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets and are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
