Norfolk Tides
Triple-A International League

Two errors in the 12th inning cost the Tides Wednesday as Rochester edged Norfolk, 6-5. With Heath Bell on in relief, Rochester's Josh Rabe singled and was sacrificed to second, but Chris Basak committed an error, allowing Shawn Wooten to reach base and putting runners at the corners with one out.

Bell struck out Glenn Williams for the second out, but Juan Tejeda booted Jason Tyner's ground ball, allowing Rabe to score the winning run.

  • Notes: Lastings Milledge saved a run with an outfield assist in the seventh, throwing out Garrett Jones at the plate. … Milledge also had two hits in three trips, walked three times, and is batting .404. … Julio Ramirez contributed a three-run double in the second inning. … Kaz Matsui went 1-for-1 in his final rehab appearance before being activated; he will join the Mets Thursday in San Diego. … Victor Diaz was 3-for-6 with a run scored before leaving the game in the 11th. … Norfolk has lost six of eight.

    Binghamton Mets
    Double-A Eastern League

    Jonathan Slack laced a two-run single in the ninth inning to move into extra innings, but Adam Lind came through with a run-scoring single facing Anderson Garcia in the 11th, allowing New Hampshire to defeat Binghamton Wednesday, 4-3.

    Corey Ragsdale plated the B-Mets' first run in the fourth with a groundout, scoring Brett Harper. Eddie Camacho gave Binghamton four scoreless, hitless innings of relief after taking over for starter Miguel Pinango with one out in the sixth.

  • Notes: Ragsdale was thrown out stealing home plate for the second out of the ninth inning. … Carlos Gomez went 3-for-5 with a double, raising his average to .218. … Camacho struck out three. … Pinango allowed three runs and five hits, including a home run, in 5-1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two. … The B-Mets went 3-4 on a seven-game road trip.

    St. Lucie Mets
    Single-A Florida State League

    Mike Pelfrey, the Mets' first-round selection in the June 2005 First-Year Player Draft, suffered his first professional defeat Wednesday. Pelfrey allowed two runs and five hits in five innings as St. Lucie fell at Daytona, 4-0.

    Pelfrey allowed a solo home run to catcher Jake Fox in the second inning and allowed a run-scoring single to Alan Rick in the fifth. The 6-foot-7 right-hander, who missed time with a sprained ankle, walked none and struck out five.

  • Notes: Mark Holliman limited St. Lucie to four hits over 6-1/3 innings, and the Mets managed just one hit the rest of the way. … Alhaji Turay's double marked the Mets' only extra-base hit. … Matt Lindstrom allowed a two-run homer to Daytona cleanup hitter Nic Jackson in the sixth inning.

    Hagerstown Suns
    Single-A South Atlantic League

    For the second day in a row, Hagerstown mounted a ninth-inning rally, plating three runs against West Virginia pitching. But on Wednesday, the outburst fell short as Hagerstown fell to the visiting Power, 5-4.

    Hagerstown put up all their runs in the final two innings. Nick Evans stroked a run-scoring double off Steve Palazzolo in the eighth and Rafael Arroyo reached the hurler for a solo homer with one out in the ninth, Arroyo's first of the year.

    Elvis Cruz followed with a two-run homer later in the inning, bringing the tying run to the plate, but Palazzolo retired Hector Pellot to end the game.

  • Notes: Leivi Ventura went 3-for-4 with a run scored. He is batting .216. … Suns starter Jeff Landing fell to 0-2 with the decision. Landing allowed two home runs in a 5-2/3 inning effort, charged with four earned runs and six hits. He walked four and struck out one. … Josh Appell struck out three and walked one in 1-1/3 innings of scoreless, hitless relief.
