Stephen Holmes: It's very surreal; it's been a very exciting year. It's a team that I always love watching on TV. You always know a lot about them because their such a great organization, so im thrilled to be a part of it.
Inside Pitch: Were you surprised being selected by the Mets?
Holmes: No not all, I had a great relationship with the Mets this whole year. I talked to Larry Izzo quite a bit and I really felt comfortable talking to them and learning about the organization. Once I found out I got drafted by them, I was honored.
Inside Pitch: Talk about your stuff. What type of pitches do you throw at what speeds?
Holmes: I throw a fastball 89-92, geared up to 94 on a good day. I also throw a breaking ball between 72-75 and my changeup is 77-80.
Inside Pitch: Do you have a favorite player?
Inside Pitch: What has been your best moment in baseball?
Holmes: Yesterday, getting drafted by the Mets. It always was a dream of mines and it finally came true yesterday. I couldn't be happier.
Inside Pitch: Are you looking to sign quickly?
Holmes: Yes, I plan on signing as soon as I can. I just want to get out there and start playing again; working hard, and doing everything I can to help the organization.
Inside Pitch: What are your thoughts on the pressures of pitching in New York?
Holmes: There is going to be pressure coming with this. I have to understand as a player there is only so much I can do and as long I play the way I'm capable of playing, and keep the team in the ball game, that's all I can ask of myself. I'm looking forward to that opportunity.
