Mets @ Marlins Series Preview

The Mets are on a winning streak. Throw a party! After two wins in a row, the New York Metropolitans head to the sunshine state and take on the Marlins for a quick two game set. After loosing twelve games in a row, the Mets were able to win the last two games against the Rockies and re-gain confidence that the team had undoubtedly had lost over that dreadful stretch.

The Florida Marlins are winners of seven of their last eleven and have won two games in a row. They won a rare road series in San Diego before flying back home to welcome the New York Mets.

In the series opener on Tuesday night, the fish send out left-hander Michael Tejera who has been very impressive this year. His last start was the longest of the year in which he went eight solid innings surrendering only two earned runs. He did not factor in the decision.

The Mets will have John Thomson on the mound who is coming off the best performance of his short New York career. In seven plus innings he gave up two earned runs against the Giants, but fell victim to a lack of support and lost.

On Wednesday, the disappointing Carl Pavano pitches for Florida. He came over in the trade that sent Cliff Floyd to the Montreal Expos a few months ago.

Mike Bacsik opposes him in the finale. He took the rotation spot of Shawn Estes when he was traded to the Reds. Against San Francisco in his last start he went 5 1/3, loosing and dropping his record to 2-1.
