Inside Pitch Magazine: Tell us what it feels like to be selected by the New York Mets?
Lucas Duda: I feel great. It's a great opportunity and it's a privilege to be drafted and hopefully I'll make the best out of it.
Inside Pitch: Is this about the part in the draft you imagined yourself being selected?
Inside Pitch: What type of player are you and how do you see yourself fitting in with the Mets?
Duda: Hitting-wise, I'll hopefully produce some power numbers. I play any position, I play outfield, first base. Hopefully I can just go in there, adjust well, put some numbers up and help the team win.
Inside Pitch: What are your strengths and your weaknesses?
Duda: I think my strength is my power. My weakness is probably speed, running speed. Arm strength is another positive for me.
Inside Pitch: Who would you compare your game to at the Major League level?
Duda: Maybe Carlos Delgado, but I'm not on his level, I'm not even close to what he is. That's just maybe a vague comparison.
Inside Pitch: Do you see yourself staying at the same position or do you think you'll be moved to another position?
Duda: I'd love to play anywhere but I'm probably better suited for first base.
Inside Pitch: What would you say is your best moment in baseball and why?
Duda: Maybe in high school, winning the championship game, that was a pretty memorable moment. Other than that, playing in a college Super Regional.
Inside Pitch: Who was your favorite team and player growing up?
Duda: The Mets were my favorite team actually, but my favorite player growing up had to be Bo Jackson.
Inside Pitch: Growing up in California, how did you become a Mets fan?
Duda: I just like them for some reason, I like Shea Stadium for some reason, I don't know what it is. I just like the whole environment of New York – just watching the games. Also, my dad's a Met fan, too. He lived in New York when he was younger.
Inside Pitch: Is it your intention to sign now and start your professional career immediately?
Duda: I'm leaning towards signing.
