Inside Pitch: First off Will, your thoughts and comments about being drafted by the Mets.
Will Morgan: It was real exciting…seeing as the Mets are a big pitching squad, it really helps me out and I really love being here.
Inside Pitch: Did you expect to be drafted by the Mets and did anyone contact before the draft from the Mets?
Morgan: Yeah, I went to (Santa Rosa) Junior College and I talked to this guy in California and when I went to Lewis & Clark, I talked to (Jim Reeves, Mets scout) there. He talked to me about what I needed to do and what I needed to get better.
Inside Pitch: Have you been to New York City before?
Morgan: Actually, I've never been this far east in my life! It's incredible, I mean I'm from this in Eureka, California and coming here everything is like double paced, triple paced.
Inside Pitch: You said you were a Padre fan. Who was your favorite player growing up?
Morgan: Trevor Hoffman.
Inside Pitch: Gonna come out to Hells Bells?
Morgan: Maybe (laughs).
Inside Pitch: Talk about your pitching repertoire a little bit. Can you describe your pitches and what they do?
Morgan: I sit 90-91 with the fastball, good slider, working on a change-up…
Inside Pitch: And would you say that you pattern yourself after Hoffman?
Morgan: Oh no, not at all, butt in little league I had the big leg kick.
Inside Pitch: Did you have the change-up?
Morgan: No, I just started throwing a change-up a couple of months ago because (my coach) told me you need to be a three pitch pitcher – fastball, slider, change.
Inside Pitch: How would you rank your pitches?
Morgan: My slider, it has good late break…then my fastball and then my change.
Inside Pitch: Is there anything you feel like you need to improve?
Morgan: Oh yeah. Anything I can do, run, get stronger, there's always room for improvement.
Inside Pitch: Does your demeanor change on the mound; you seem like a laid back guy.
Morgan: Oh yeah. (Off the mound) I crack jokes, I always want to laugh, I'm a fun kind of guy…when I get on the mound, I try to be a bulldog there.
Inside Pitch: This is your first time in New York ever; Keyspan Park is always sold out. Do you think you'll feel pressure if you have to come in the game?
Morgan: Nah, when I get on the mound, it's just me and the catcher and nothing else. You just work on what you've been trying.
